As part of my Horror from the Beercade events I ran last year for Halloween I made a few nightly themed drinks as well as the two staple drinks for the month of October-
The Monster and the Count
The Monster
2oz Ketel One Citroen
1oz Midori melon liqueur
1oz Luxardo Sour Apple
1/2oz sour mix
If you can't tell already- I love Midori, I think melon liqueur is a lot of fun to work with, not to mentions it always gives this really great color. This is an easy basic cocktail that is a fruity, refreshing easy drink. It's not so much for the taste wow factor, but instead the color. If you have a thin-stemmed martini glass try dropping a cherry in the bottom. The edges will blur and instead will look like a little blood in the bottom.
The Count
2oz cherry-infused Bulleit
I home infuse but and cherry flavored Bourbon is good
1oz Luxardo Maraschino
1/2oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2oz cherry juice
4 dashes Angostora Bitters
If you really love cherries then I'd suggest garnishing with Maker Mark's Bourbon Cherries and/or using Woodford Reserve Cherry Bitters. This is a stronger but still fairly sweet cherry Manhattan, for someone who likes a whiskey drink but also likes a sweet kick.
Disclaimer- I added a drop of food coloring to
this drink to give it a bright red color
for promotional use only.
