On May the Fourth I was tasked with creating four Star Wars themed cocktails. I had about a week to put this menu together and I thought it was such a fun challenge. I really tried to make 4 cocktails with different flavor profiles. Because these we to be made in large quantities and sold to many different people with different tastes I focused on making twists on classics or reworking some one my favorites to appeal to the masses.
The following recipes are written in parts to make multiple servings of each. If you are wanting to make drinks to order my ratios are based on 2 ounces per base spirit.

Java the Hutt
2 parts Patron XO Cafe
If unavailable- 1 part Kahlua and 1 part Patron Silver
1 part Cointreau
3 parts chilled black coffee
Optional- Bailey's to taste
Shaken into 6oz Martini glass
Garnished with orange peel and freshly ground cinnamon
This is based off of one of my Espresso Orange Marg, one of my favorites. Espresso is an acquired taste so instead I changed this recipe to be coffee based to be more accessible. To save time while serving I added 5 whole cinnamon sticks to the dispenser instead of grating it each time.
Sith Lord Smash
2 parts Bird Dog Peach Whiskey
1 part lime juice
3 parts Cranberry Pomegranate drink
Topped with seltzer
Built over muddled fruit (strawberries, cherries, limes) and mint in 12oz Highball glass
Garnish with strawberry slice, cherry and sprig of mint
This was the best seller of the night- it is a very simple drink by itself but the smashed fruit is what creates the harmony in the drink. The slight tartness of the strawberries pairs with the dryness of the cranberry which is sweetened by the cherries and peach and the sugary sweetness is subsequently cut with the acidity of the limes making it a well balanced fruity drink. To make serving easier I muddled the fruit beforehand and tied it in cheesecloth to let it steep throughout the day.
Yoda Sour
3 parts Bulleit Bourbon
2 parts Midori melon liqueur
1 part Sour mix
Splash of Blue Curacao for color
Press
Built in 10-11oz Collins glass
Garnish with 2 lime wedges on either side to represent ears
This is a slight twist on the popular Midori Sour. I chose to do a Press instead of just citrus soda to keep this drink a bit more tart, while still getting a bit of added sweetness from the Bulleit. I figured with the berry smash that a melon based sour drink would be a good addition. The Blue Curacao in this drink is barely noticeable and instead acts just as a color enhancer, however more can be added to give it a slight orange flavor.
Tatooine Bantha Milk
2 parts Captain Morgan LocoNut
If unavailable- 2 parts white rum (Malibu for a stronger coconut flavor) and 1 part coconut cream
1 part Disaronno Amaretto
1 part Blue Curacao
Shaken with light ice and strained into neat Old Fashioned glass
This is a very sweet, thick, coconut forward cocktail. The thickness of this drink is determined by whether or not you use Coconut cream, which is recommended but not required to enjoy this beverage. To cut the viscosity you can add more ice to the shaker tin or serve over ice to dilute over time.
I really enjoyed making these drinks and I'd love to hear what you thought of them. Did you try any? Did you make alterations? Let me know in the comments below.
